Kym Bozarth loves to cook.
A couple of months ago, Kym, who is Deaf, came up with a compelling idea for a blog. Deaf in the Kitchen showcases her foodie appreciation for recipes, stories, and delicious photos, as well as her love of the Deaf community.
“My blog is a mixture of food, crafts and some inspiration thrown into the mix,” Kym says. “Occasionally there are posts from guest bloggers, and I welcome submissions from other food and craft enthusiasts.”
Kym also created a Facebook group, Deafies in the Kitchen, which allows anyone who is Deaf or hard of hearing to share and swap recipes, or simply engage in craft or cooking discussions. Lipreading Mom has been part of Kym’s Facebook group for some time. What I have observed is the people who actively engage in this group function very much like a warm-hearted family gathering in the kitchen to chat.
