Ash Arp shared her SHOW ME YOUR EARS story with Lipreading Mom through photos and a poem…
My ears.
My ears are my CI and my HA,
My ears are my eyes
I look so I can listen,
I look so I know the words,
I lip read,
I sign,
I listen…
My ears may not work
but oh… the rest of me does.

I was born with hearing loss. Within the last few years it has progressively gotten worse, to the point even with my hearing aid (HA), I hear NOTHING.

I decided it was finally time to get a cochlear implant (CI), and I am pleased with it. Going for my next one in December.
Like Ash and Lipreading Mom, are your EYES your ears, too? Share your SHOW ME YOUR EARS (or EYES) story.
Ash has given me loads of support and information in regards to hearing loss. She’s a good person and I’m happy her CI journey has been a successful one!
Thank you to both Kym and Lipreading mom! I am pleased with my CI, and I am so very happy that I had the chance to discover my Deaf Identity before surgery.
Thank you both Kym and Lipreading mom. I am pleased with my journey, and I am so very thankful that I was given the opportunity to figure out my Deaf Identity, and thankfully I was able to make the decision on my own.
Ash (a.k.a. That Deaf Girl) – You are welcome, and thank YOU for being an inspiration by SHOWING ME YOUR EARS!
